Jungle

We had two weeks of thawing out and hanging with my family, followed by a couple of days in Cape Tribulation. It was horrible.

Green

I have been so bad at even looking at my photos, let alone dealing with them. These are from a weekend away a month or so ago. Walking in the Otways, breathing good air, taking garden notes. Wood, and trees and funghi. Lichen, moss and mistletoe.

Away

I've been away. Lucky me. We spent an extra long weekend at Nic's place down the Otways, in both mist and sunshine. It was very nice. We walked the perimeter each day keeping an eye out for koalas, kangaroos, wallabies and snakes. We saw all of those and many pretty birds too. We walked on the beach, collected pebbles and swam in the ocean. I breathed so much fresh sea air, and good strong eucalyptus air. It feels like the best medicine after a week of a summer cold.

We also stoked up the squirrel and had a youtube tag marathon and watermelon granita vodka slushies and homemade ginger beer mules. More photos on my other camera which is yet to be dumped onto the computer, but coming soon! Koala pictures and inside the beehives honey! I aspire to be better at posting the things that are happening, and things are happening, but no promises. There are lots of exciting things afoot, which I hope to tell you about in good time.

The Farm

Last week we drove in a convoy down the coast with Nic and the kids. We donned gumboots and tramped around the farm. It was the first visit and definitely not the last. So nice. School holidays meant kick to kick, chess, hair braiding and sitting for portraits, a spot of orchard envying and a game of STACKS ON ADAM!

Kicking a football is not easy in gumboots.

Driving through the Otway national park to get there is amazing – windows down, heads out, breathing in the good tree air – it reminds me of home. We saw superb fairy wrens, koalas, kangaroos, a tiger snake, a swamp wallaby and a stray cat. We drank Otway beer and ate fish and chips at Apollo Bay. We drove to Gelibrand and had lunch in the idyllic pub beergarden where we were joined by cute puppies. It really felt like holidays.

Some pictures to green up your tuesday. From a walk in the scrub with my father. Maybe a month ago. Seems like a longer time. Time flys.
