I'll interrupt the silence to encourage you to head over to the Chutney Club blog for details on our BikeFest Village Picnic preserving challenge. Join us at a tasting or enter the competition on Saturday the 9th of March at the Abbostford Convent. It'll be sweet and a little bit vinegary too.
Also, ride your bike!

11/11/11
11.11.11.
Numerology has weirdly become a recurring theme here. SO.

I can't help loving today's date, I already had a problem with always seeing 11:11 (I could be a lightworker) but it's been getting worse since a friend got into numerology in Byron Bay (it spreads like a disease). I also heard on the internet that 11-11-11 is the cosmic birth date of humanities prayer for liberation from the rote, mundane, and monotonous. Magnificent.
I hope you look at this at 11:11 today. I hope it makes you feel a little bit like we are connected like a whole endless row of equal ones going on forever. You've probably stopped reading by now, I don't blame you. Or, you could be in Byron Bay being blown away by the Boredoms and their 111 Drummers (the Japanese experimental legends will again be celebrating the beauty of palindromic/symmetric dates by putting together a massive drum circle in Byron Bay on the 11/11/11) but HUSH, if you told me that I'd be jealous, and jealousy seems misplaced when we are talking about liberation, interconnectedness and the beauty of symmetrical dates.
Considering my casual numerological dalliances, it seems appropriate to circuit back to Byron Bay and the Boredoms on a day like today.
9, 10, Legs 11.11.11.11.11.
On International day of interconnectedness I give you a picture of my bike looking very pretty amidst the bougainvillea. I bike which I feel lucky to have each day, along with every one of the people I have the pleasure to know.

Curbside

A reclaimed curb made me stop in Brunswick the other day. I love this sort of thing. My Grandma used to get letters from the council about her wild curbside garden. I always encouraged her, though she didn't really need it. Hers was wilder than this.

Bike Pusher
Ok, so you know I am a bike pusher. And also how I love love love my bike (Thank you again my lovely friends!). Even though we have moved to the top of two hills I still actually generally love riding my bike to and from work and life, despite being a little exhausted at times, and vaguely dreading summer. I have been daydreaming my own bike video, but in the meantime, this one is probably better, and it makes me want to ride a bike.

Bike love
I have a new bike. Exactly like my old bike. I was going to buy one the day I got back from Brisbane but Adam told me to wait a week. As I caught the tram and walked each day to work, I wondered why I was waiting, going into debt would be worth the freedom. On thursday evening Adam picked me up, and on the walk to the car, he bundled me into the pub, where a bunch of my beloved were sitting around a shiny new bike. I was too stunned to understand what was happening, despite the obvious, A bike, just like my old bike, but shiny, and not stolen.
I'm still overcome. I'm lucky to know so many good people, and very lucky to have a bike again. I love it. Thank you Simon, Pene and Adam for your sneaky ideas, and thank you everybody! It was a very nice surprise.

Hrumpff
My new bike got stolen from my house on friday night. I didn't even tell you about my lovely new bike, did I. It was a present. It was all silvery green and white. I had it for a little over a month.
I am very sad about it. I'm not sure how I'll replace it, but I guess I'll work something out. No sewing this weekend, just some moping and a little house hunting as we are being kicked out of our house. It's all abit sad. We also went to the Glenroy Cash Converters and the police station.
I need to find the Hrumpff tshirt.

Saturday

This from last saturday. An exhibition at Y3K and a perfect summer day. There have been alot of them. I have rustled up a bike for Courtland, as a bike is necessary in my life. Lucky Don won't be around to encourage dangerous tricks. Don will be busy representing Australia in the International Snow Sculpture Championships in Colorado. I wish I could go. Apparently they will be carving a giant kangaroo on a lounge. Good luck Don, and team Pouch.

countryside

Just some photos from our ride along the dykes on a stormy afternoon. You can click on them to see them bigger if you like. They call it the polders. Dykes, bike paths, water canals, green fields, fat sheep and horses.

we got two wheels baby
It's all eating waffles and riding bikes. Everyday.

I'm considering marrying smoked cheese I love it so.
Can anyone enlighten me as to why there are so many ridiculously tiny horses in these here watery fields? Not just ponies, tiny ponies. Maybe it's to do with the whole land of the giants myth? Anyone?

Deers are magical animals and they live in the park, and they have bounding babies. OMG.
The air is rich with the smells of summer blossoms and green green grass.
Water is brimming up all around, just like in the pictures...
People stand around beside the herring stall dangling little fishes down their throats. Not me though.
It's not even dark til 11 at night.
... and Holland are wowing Europe with their fresh football and their previously unimaginably orange wardrobes, we are hearing the roar of it all from here. Oranje Oranje Oranje!

Got Wheels
Finally I fixed my bike after some drunk bastards kicked the wheel in...
I had the best day just riding it around doing chores...
I love my bike.
I also visited Gertrude Street and saw a heartbreaking piece upstairs by Starlie Geikie. The Great Alone. I am pretty easily pleased by art with needlepoint. This one's particularly lovely.
I went to Seventh for old times sake and saw some rather nice paintings of skulls and flowers.
Then I visited Neon Parc, which might just be my new favourite. Is it their floors? Is it the nice logo? Could it be the location location location? Whatever, I like it.

i am a new member of bike gang. as the very thoughtful, clever and handsome simon has given me a new bike. WHICH I LOVE. so much i have ridden it all over town. EVEN up hills. if you know me you would know how reluctant i have been in the past to do ANY riding that is not just actually me being impatient because walking to the pub takes too long. it's not because of it's super amazing gears and lightweight frame and super suspension. nuh-uh. the melbourne has none of that. it's old, tall, slender, silver and strong. and it's called the melbourne HORST. simon also took the trouble to set me up with lights and locks and helmet as he knows my devil may care biking style and amazing ability to stack and scrape... he doesn't want to be held responsible if i die in a bike accident... YOU WHAT! YOU GAVE HER A BIKE? SIMON!!
Thanks Simon!

on that thrilling note... i look at all these posts and wonder why anyone comes here.
