Two weeks of Signal workshops were fun and exhausting. These photos from a day recording and playing music, robot drums, plants, fruits and vegetables with Dylan Martorell. This goes down as one of the best work days in my history.
I woke up the day after finishing with a sad summer
cold. It has swallowed up my two days off and made work a little harder
this week. Can't win em all.

Rally
So nice to see such a huge crowd out to stand up for our live music scene. Glad to hear the government has back-flipped. I liked the awkward politicians milling about on the steps gawping back at the crowd and I liked the feel of being in such a crowd for such a good reason. I'm going to post a swathe of photos, so you can try to spot the people you know in each one, and good placards too. Psychedelic Freaks Vote Too! Free Colin Hay! Blunderstruck! VIVE LE ROCK 24HR LOVE!

Oh, music is the meat of all who love,
Music uplifts the soul to realms above.
The ashes glow, the latent fires increase:
We listen and are fed with joy and peace.
Rumi.

Adamsterdam
In the port of Amsterdam
There's a sailor who sings
Of the dreams that he brings
From the wide open sea
In the port of Amsterdam
There's a sailor who sleeps
While the river bank weeps
To the old willow tree...
We had a couple of days in the city. Adam surprised me with a fancy hotel, all chandeliers and opulence and red velvety wallpaper and mountains of Rococo pillows to push off the bed. YAY.
It's easy to love Amsterdam. It's nice to know how to quickly sidestep the dingy tourist hell of it too. We were meeting up with friends. Friends with kids, hello Stella & Louis.
So a lot of our time was spent piggy-backing, hand-holding, getting demonstrations of statues and tall dogs, picking flowers off the footpath, darth vader photo sessions and Tokyo toyshop stories. Travel tales from under tens. It must be amazing to do, and remember later, as a kid, despite the fact they MAY sometimes wish to just be at home watching tele.
I loved it. Anyway, the link above is to David Bowie, but I only know the song from a Scott Walker album, I blame Kade. I love it, and it comes into my head, whenever Amsterdam is mentioned... Though right now I've found and am loving this, the original version too.

yay for visitors
Andrea & Cam made me very happy by visiting me in Berlin. Andrea is looking pretty up the duff, in a, you know, glowing 'oh my god, SO beautiful lady' way.
Apart from some blatant coercion to have a baby, it has been SO nice to have close friends to chatter with for a change.
We went to see Alasdair Roberts and Bill Callahan last night. I liked it. Sweet scottish accents make me happy. Bill's voice is amazing even if he gives nothing much away live (cold-blooded old man). Diamond Dancer made my night. Anyways, here is a flying duck by oberbaum brücke.

Got Wheels
Finally I fixed my bike after some drunk bastards kicked the wheel in...
I had the best day just riding it around doing chores...
I love my bike.
I also visited Gertrude Street and saw a heartbreaking piece upstairs by Starlie Geikie. The Great Alone. I am pretty easily pleased by art with needlepoint. This one's particularly lovely.
I went to Seventh for old times sake and saw some rather nice paintings of skulls and flowers.
Then I visited Neon Parc, which might just be my new favourite. Is it their floors? Is it the nice logo? Could it be the location location location? Whatever, I like it.

jack o clubs
too many clubs?
we had soup club on the weekend... i made a huge pot of ham and barley soup. we ate it. it was GOOD.
jess and i may have started a new club. it'll be big. LET ME TELL YOU. The Hopeless Cunts Rockstar Brunch Club may just be our ticket to lunch.
i am a new member of bike gang. as the very thoughtful, clever and handsome simon has given me a new bike. WHICH I LOVE. so much i have ridden it all over town. EVEN up hills. if you know me you would know how reluctant i have been in the past to do ANY riding that is not just actually me being impatient because walking to the pub takes too long. it's not because of it's super amazing gears and lightweight frame and super suspension. nuh-uh. the melbourne has none of that. it's old, tall, slender, silver and strong. and it's called the melbourne HORST. simon also took the trouble to set me up with lights and locks and helmet as he knows my devil may care biking style and amazing ability to stack and scrape... he doesn't want to be held responsible if i die in a bike accident... YOU WHAT! YOU GAVE HER A BIKE? SIMON!!
Thanks Simon!
i had dinner with the family. not mine but still very lovely. i said goodbye to my most glamourous friend. miss andrea i miss you again already... i have quite a few glamourous friends. it pleases scruffy me alot that they will spend time with such riffraff... i also watched the soccer and lounged around abit. handsome soccer players.
on that thrilling note... i look at all these posts and wonder why anyone comes here.
let's ponder together....
