Fire

dell

We had a backyard fire Saturday evening. I was semi comatose at that point after a huge week and a long day. Vodka, BBQ and fire torches went a ways towards fixing me. Thanks as always to my partners in crime.

Now, lastly, a link to an interview, with a warning - I am crap at interviews, always saying something dumb - but here you go. Thanks to Nilina Mason-Campbell for her kind words, and for thinking of me! Visit her here.

Ch-Ch-Changes

I have changed up the look o' the blog abit. I've been meaning to for ages, but who can find the time for such things? Apparently me! I'm not overjoyed with it, but it's a start. It's much easier to read now, so that is something. If I ever get nostalgic for the pink old days I can look at the Pandora archive.

Listening to...

You may have noticed in the last few weeks I have added a listening to... to the side of this blog. If you click the picture there's a link to a video or song that has been in my head. Today I updated to Ariel Pink. Before Today is the new album and I highly recommend it, though it just made me want to listen to the older stuff again, because I LOVES IT. When I was looking on youtube this song came up, and it is a favourite. Kate I wait. My friend Kate is prone to be late 'I wait, I wait, I wait for Kate'. I love these lyrics, this AM radio echo and pop and this touch of melodramatic glamour.

It's from 'The Doldrums' album of 2004 which sounds like it lived under a damp rock or on the sunburnt dash of a Toyota Corolla for 25 years. It includes such gems as 'Good Kids Make Bad Grown Ups' and 'Let's Build a Campfire There' made infinitely more lovable BECAUSE they sound like they lived under a damp rock or on a sunburnt mixtape bursting with all the classic hits, a bit warped and a little stretched.

Letters

I love letters. I still get a letter from my Mum most weeks. Lucky me. I got two last week. So much more personal and special than an email, not that I don't also love getting emails. Just. You know.
I have a drawer in my filing cabinet devoted to letters from home, and perhaps it's time I found a trunk as it's getting hard to open my drawer.

I loved reading this, and I am loving Letters of note in general.

Hello World

Hello Blogosphere.

Yes, that's you.

I have been slightly addicted to stats lately, about a month ago I finally worked out how to see a map of visitors to this site. I am a bit slow.
I find it surprising and amazing still. So to my reader in Montreal, hello. To my reader in Adelaide, hello. To my reader in Alice Springs, yay, hello. Also hello Santiago, and Lisbon, and of course hello Paris, hello Berlin. Hello Holland! New YORK. London. Hawaii! Milan. Tokyo.

Hello World.

My map desk has come in handy. What a nerd.
Speaking of nerds, who is your nerdboyfriend?
I can't choose. It's very problematic.

GO ON, put it on your BLOB

... an ongoing conversation with my friend brooke. who doesn't have a blog… and doesn't read blogs.

Brooke: spill, did you date the guy who read your blob.

Me: which guy? … it’s not a blob.

Brooke: the one who wrote on someone else’s blob that he had a crush on you…

Me: it’s not a blob.

Brooke: what is it?

Me: a BLOG

Brooke: blog BLOB. whatever. SO. did ya?

Me: we had a beer

Brooke: and?

Me: we talked.

Brooke: … …

Me: he seems nice.

Brooke: see him again?

Me: sure. why not?

Brooke: he reads your BLOB!

Brookie and her charming summation of my blob life.
just wait til she has a blob. the blob readers will be lining up to date her. the whole blob community will have a field day. cause she'd be a really hot blobber...
