I'm the chairman of the bored.
In case you needed proof. This is a list of the books I've read in the last month...
then weep.
'their heads are green' paul bowles (i want a parrot)
'small island' andrea levy (big heart)
'the search' john battelle (google... hmmm interesting... search...)
'adrian mole and the weapons of mass destruction' sue townsend (blergh)
'lord jim' joseph conrad (i forget)
'a short history of progress' ronald wright (hmmm interesting, truly)
'a computer called leo: the worlds first office computer' georgina ferry (mmmm)
'on beauty' zadie smith (ok)
'the sweetest dream' doris lessing (heartbreaking and close)
house-sitting. i love it.
when i say bored, i mean bored in the nicest possible way.
like; i might just go for another 2 hour walk along this lonesome, wild beach to stare at some hills and some water. or maybe jump on the trampoline. or stand in the wind on a hillside and walk down to the end of the runway and see the planes flying overhead or swim in the cold, cold sea.
wellington is a very pretty town.

i went camping
with jane and jess and alice in a lovely old combie. on an op-shopping mission up to wanganui. and we surely shopped. it was lovely. good company, fold out tables, chrocheted granny rugs, cups of wine, fish & chips, games of cards, and very pretty scenes.
we picked wild blackberries, plums, grapefruit and lemons...

i am almost op-shopped out. the smell of old people and blaring christian music start to grate. which is probably lucky as i have to bring it all back to melbourne somehow. yay! more weird clothes to fit into my troubled wardrobe.
i miss melbourne.

well welly well
i've had the flu, but now the sun is shining and acting much more like summer. still windy. though i must've acclimmatised, i said it was hot yesterday, and i think it was a top of 25... i swam at scorching bay and it was very refreshing...

this must be truly fascinating reading...

dear world, it's me...
adam left on my birthday. i moped. woe is me. i watched the plane fly away while laying in the sun on the trampoline. lonesome. BUT i ate delicious cake thanks to pene. i saw some insanely adorable brazilians make a racket in a room with not one person i know... yes i do love css. yes i had no friends. except when lovefoxxx recognised me in the crowd and pointed me out as her internet friend.
'DELL! you came! happy birthday!'
how perfectly good and nigel no friends is that. *hello internet friends. i do love you...
but anyway, LONESOME...
... some things i like about New Zealand.
i can walk to many different beaches with hardly no one around.
it's pretty. the pahutekawa trees are in flower and its green and grey and wild.
people are nice. it makes you feel warm inside.
i have family here. i like family. they feed you and chat to you and give you a hug and muss up your hair.
*thank you all for birthday wishes. you made me smile.
